give me your thoughts, if money were no option which AR-15 would you buy? And what sight would you put on it.

if money were no object I would have one built from Larue, daniel Defence,,LMT and PMag parts and use and acog with doctors optic sight.

Rock RIver Arms makes a fine AR15 and you can get them in a variety of configurations.

Is it true that only 2 manufacturer's machine receivers for AR's?

Nope, two others that I know of machining lowers from billet are Patriot Arms (new name now) and Seekins Precision. I know there are others but those are off the top of my head.

If money was no problem then I would buy the real deal. An M-16, now that would be nice.

That would not be a good idea. Federal law does not allow private citizens to have any machine gun made after May 19, 1986. So any M-16 we would buy would be used and being a machine gun it would get some heavy use with a lot of shooting.

Of course we could buy new barrels and other stuff as needed but some of todays AR-15's are much, much better than the military M-16.

It depends on what your primary application will be.
I have a DPMS M-4 configuration with an Eotec sight. vert. forarm grip. single point sling. But I don't do insertions anymore. Nor do I plan to. but it is a comfort to have around.
Also I have a DPMS Panther Bull 24" .223 with a Leupold Mark 4 6.5-20x50 good "varmit" gun.
I also have a stanard Colt AR-15 A2 HBAR.
No problems out of any.
Remember this is a battle rifle platform. the bells and whisles are nice. But spend on what you plan to ues it for.

I would definately rather spend on ammo than some of the "stuff" people buy.

Agreed. I've never understood why some folks weigh down a CQB rifle to where it feels like a benchrest rifle. I'd rather tote bullets. ONE good optic, BUIS and a very small, very bright light!

Good advice.
