Well....I think I am going to sell my first Cell camera! The camera itself is GREAT! It is dealing with AT&T that is a MAJOR hassle. They have messed up the text plan 3 times. Each time, I have lost money through their mess up. This time - I had to call them and talk with a customer service person - she was nice and appears to have gotten it straightened out (for now)...but, for some reason the camera is not working. It probably has to do with AT@T, because it was working fine the night before ATT messed up my text plan. So...it's another trip out to the field, then figure out what's going on with the cam AND Then calling ATT customer service again.

I just don't have time for all this mess....so, I think I am giving up on it. Wes told me it would be this way! :) :bash: :bash: :bash:

Pastor, I take my camera to the AT&T store and sit there until they get it right and I can get a photo delivered to my phone. I agree its a hassle to get it set up but well worth it in the end.

I did that the first time. Then...each month when it is time for the automatic renewal - for some reason, it won't automatically renew - EVEN though ATT set it up themselves! Then...I have to drive out to the camera and figure out what AT&T messed up that it won't send pictures now. I really like the camera and it is really cool to get pics via text. BUT...the stress and aggravation of having to go through this EVERY month, just isn't worth it to me.

On top of that, their CRAZY gophone payment system is ridiculous. I told my wife - "I do this for enjoyment....and it's become not very enjoyable".

I will see what is going on with the camera when I get a chance to go to the woods. Then I will make up my mind for sure.

Once I had it set up there was no further problem. I found you do need the booster antenna to get almost any remote area. Do you have the new covert? Let me know if you want to sell. I have two but may be interested in another.

I have the booster antenna and solar panel. It is a 2014 midel I purchased 2 months ago. I will let you know.

I certainly feel your pain.
Sorry it didn't work out as expected.
Based on your earlier posts, you just about had me ready to try again. :tu:
Obviously, they still have a few bugs to work out, even if SOME users have had better results than we have.

I think I've got the process figured out. It's been working fine for me for several months. Now if only I could keep the dang coons off my baited site.....

Mine got ate by a bear last week :bash: 1st one in a long time

O my!!! I did buy a security box for this one. I have had bears rub up against my cams and swat at them....but none destroyed by them...YET!

Yeah I've got a box for mine too. I forgot it in the garage :bash: I don't think it would've mattered though because the only real damage was the antenna was broke out of the case

Well...I finally was able to get to the woods today and check my camera. I turned the camera off and then back on and WALA! It started sending pics to me via text. Glad it was a simple fix. I hope I don't have to go through this every month. I brought it home and set it up here at the house for further tests.

Yep, if you let your ATT plan run out you have to go reset it everytime

Only problem - it is ATT's goof up...so THEY should have to go out to the woods and reset it for me!!! :tu:

Was your account set up to auto-renew the messaging service with AT&T each month?

Yes. Matter of fact ATT has set it up for me 3 times now - AND still it has not worked. Each time they say "we got it fixed now" - but...they didn't! So, we will see - it comes up for renewing in about a week. Hopefully they really have got it fixed this time.

SHOCKED I Tell You, SHOCKED!
Sounds like my experience. :bash:

Maybe, in another year, or two, they'll get the bugs worked out.

There are no bugs in the camera to be worked out. It's just like a cell phone on a month-to-month plan. I feed the meter on my 3 Code Black cameras every 30 days and they work just fine. It's a 2 minute phone call once a month to buy another 1000 messages for $10 to keep them running. I put a reminder on my Outlook calendar so I don't forget. If I do forget to feed the meter before the 30 days expire then I know I will have to go out and reboot the camera so it will re-synch with the cellular network. I have one in TN that I forgot to renew before the 30 days expired back on 4/13. Now I have to wait until I go back to TN so I can reboot it and get it synced up to the network again. That's just the way it is.

If anyone wants to unload their Covert 3G Code Black cam, I will buy it for the right price.

The "bug" is with ATT. I am set up to automatically renew my "1000 texts per month" plan - yet somehow at the end of the month, it does not automatically renew - EVEN THOUGH ATT has set it up 3 months in a row to do so. That is a bug. The cameras are great - and I have no problem with them. I may have to do like you and skip the automatic renewing and just do it manually. I might as well - I am having to do that anyway! LOL!

Same problem here. I called covert today about the gay-t &t and covert says they have a fix with their new camera where the cam is "certified" thru the cell provider. Whatever that means . We shall see

I bought and used one all last fall/winter and wasn't overly impressed with it, and it worked "pretty good" for the most part. I have a few Reconyx cams that I love and am thinking about selling my 3G to finance another Reconyx. How much are you willing to give? I have metal security box, original boxes, paperwork and everything to my knowledge.
