Yeah it is a work in progress. I have been told to stay away from jb weld. This 3m 5200 is suppose to be more flexible.

I hope the JB weld holds up on my tin boat OK. Some people say it works for years. If I have issues with it cracking, I know where to buy the 3M stuff.

Nice Boat... One thing I will say, do it right the first time and you will have nothing to worry about. Nothing worse than having to do something again that you thought you already had fixed. While a paint job will make it look good, it's what's under the paint that you're worried about.

If you check on tinboats.net you can find anything you want to know about working on them. If you can't find it, someone there can answer your questions. The best site I know of for aluminum boats and working on them.

Got my 3m 5200 in all the holes and will prime and paint it over the next couple days.

Got the bottom and sides painted!!

Got my boat name on it as well!!

Yeah I painted it with a good outdoor paint latex made by Glidden from Home depot. The dang stuff is thick! I can tell you that!! Me and christy hand brushed it. I am pleased with it so far!

Well here is some more. I am working on it as I can. I find the 5/8 inch self tapping screws and brackets really make the thing solid. I will post more video tomorrow.

I am updating every time I work on it for you guys to see how it is coming.

Looking good. I'm going to do some work to mine before the tourneys start here. I want to bring my deck out some more and add another livewell up front. I've got to get busy. May start next week.

Got a bunch of work done yesterday. Wearing me out now! lol
It is kinda fun though. I love the creativity side and sloving issues as you go. New video coming up.

It's gonna be worth it in the end. I'm still up in the air as to what I am going to do. I'm going to have to add another livewell but where and how I do it is still undecided.

I worked on my boat most of the day yesterday. I put my old Lowrance unit up front and put the new Lowrance on the dash. The new one has GPS and down scan so hopefully I can stay off the rocks now. Pretty excited about trying out the down scan part.

If you click on the pictures you will find out they are videos of the project.

Some things I have learned thus far.
Buy 100 of those little brackets! I have been back to home depot 3 times!

Pay attention to where your trolling motor goes before cutting doors in the deck. JUST SAYIN!!!

NEVER NEVER USE LIQUID NAILS TO MOUNT ANYTHING ON THE BOTTOM OF THE HULL!! Just tack wood to the braces so you may remove it later.

Use aluminum self tapping tech screws. Stainless steel head will break off. Tech screws are easier and will not counter act with the aluminum.

Scraping paint off is a waste of time. clean with 50/50 bleach and water and paint over the old paint. Porch and floor latex id cheaper then marine paint and better anyways.

3m 5200 is the best stuff in the whole world for sealing up old holes and rivets!!

Water jb weld is not your friend! Keep it on the boat for emergency repairs only as you can use it under water if neccessary.

Got all my flotation in today!
Glad I have a source for this stuff! It's free!!!!

New video upload!! She is getting closer to done!! Maybe another week and she will be jug fishing ready!!

looking good big j. have you considered running plywood up the side to cover the ribs? would look cleaner and give a place to hang rods, nets or whatever...

Yeah I am probably gonna do it. Just don't like dragging fish over the side have their slim hitting carpet.

Well here is a new video update!! The Chum bucket is taking shape now for sure!! Getting excited about where its headed as far a s the Mod is concerned!!

Looking better every day. I was thinking to myself you should paint the motor when you commented you were going to do it on the video. If it was me, I would paint it flat black and put some crazy horsepower rating on it... something like a 75 HP and then put Turbo on it. You would get all kind of crazy looks at the ramp and on the water.

I had a buddy that put chrome TURBO stickers on a 30. We always had people asking about the TURBO part when we were on the water. You will be amazed at people who would believe you!
