I am gonna buy me a boat and it will be used primarily for duck hunting and, knowing my son, probably some bowfishing.

I really want an F&F but they are HARD to find.
1652 or 1654 is what I really want.

Been looking at the Weldbilt boats and kinda like how they look.
I believe they are semi-v.
Not sure if they offer a 54 or not, about all I have seen are like 1648 & 1748.
Not perfect, but would be stable enough I suppose if we hunted out of it with a blind.

I know nothing about them and wanted some input on their pros / cons.

Needa figure out what your load and use is really gonna be for . What motor your gonna run in future or currently ect. I personally love true flatbottom boats for duck and bowfishing . I have been in polar craft monarch alweld and seark boats . Mine is a 1752 alweld sides are 23 inches and it's a tank it's the thick hull and drafts super shallow and can haul heavy loads . Polar craft buddy has is a thick hull semi v 1648 and it's a good sturdy boat good for fishing and hunting but for its size is really heavy and not good for distance rides . Seark 1548 semi v ..my bro in law has and buddy has are light and are fast with a 25 hp outboard great fishing boats and jumping beaver dams but are really small when duck hunting gear and people are cramped in those boats . They seem to have thin hulls I'd tear up on reelfoot . Monarch flatbottomwas my 1450 and it was a tin can it wasn't as light as seark but was really thin hull and could leak easy if running over stuff. Step dad has a 1860 semi v triton and it's a nice boat but heavy heavy and honestly to heavy for me to put in little holes

Search tinboats.net in the boat house forum. There is a long thread their about boats coming apart (welds breaking). This is if my memory serves me right. Could be just a random problem though. Be sure to compare their warranty with the other boats.

I have also been looking at Welbuilt boats from Backwoods Landing. The topic on that forum gives me some concern but I know a few people that have been running around this area for duck hunting and I have not heard the first complaint from any of them. I have ridden in a few of these boats and they are nice and comfortable ride. They are also a fast boat for a mud motor on them.

Dodge man. Thanks for replying. I know nothing about the boats or the dealer. I just remembered reading the thread.

Lot of good boats being made.... but I can tell you from experience, a 48" bottom is not good for hunting.... just not stable enough. Grizzly welded boats seem to be a pretty good buy... If you are using the mud motor, get a flatbottom... You might check out Southern Duck Boats.... I talked to the owner a few years ago about having one custom built for my needs.... his quote was very reasonable compared to the other "name brand" boats out there. You can tell him what you are using it for, how you want the interior, front deck, seating, sides, bow, and bottom.....
