reading an earlier post made me wonder if there really was that much of a difference..YES..there is a BIG DIFFERANCE..yesterday I bought a lil $40 digital power scale..last night I weighed 21 charges in my volume measure..checked them on the scale and the average was a 4.9g difference..and the 100g mark on my measure was always between 105g and 109g on the scale..unacceptable with the cost of the BH 209 and bullets..i will shoot 200-300 rounds before season..now I can probly cut that in half and have more confidence in my gun..i figure the scale pays for itself in power alone the first year..i HIGHLY urge anyone shooting loose power to invest in a scale..i wish I had some pellets to check..i bet they are inconsistent too..out of 5..100yd 3 shot groups..this is the "looses" group I had

I just bought a hornady digital at bass pro a few minutes ago because Im waiting on a volume measure to ship And didnt want to buy another just to shoot this weekend. Figured the scale and calipers will come Iin handy later down the road

Thanks for the leg work fnf! I've been debating on whether to continue using volume measuring, or weigh my charges, since I picked up some BH209 myself. I'll start out weighing now. ;)

Although weighing will be more precise, for hunting purposes measuring my loads by volume is more than sufficient.

I would suggest everyone looking into 'certified' scales. They cost more but are guaranteed accuracy.

In my line of work I deal with grams, and even .01 gram measurements (No I don't sell crack) quite a bit. Cheaper scales can be off as much as 3-4 grams right out of the box.

Worst case get you some weights to keep an eye on your scales accuracy.

All that said, I may get through this season measuring and switch to weighing next.

Want to reduce groups even more, weigh each individual bullet and each individual sabot and group them. You would be surprised what you will find.

funny you would say that..i did just that..trimmed sabots..filed the bottom of the bullets..got 3 loads all within .5g of each other..omega z5..73.5 weighed grains of BH..250 shockwave in black sabot at 150yds with a 3 mph crosswind..im amazed at the difference
