Took my 11 yr old girl to my "honey hole" today in fayette County. She is still looking for her first. She's been with me there a few times last year and once over juvenile this year.
In stand just before daylight. Heard quite a ruckus at first light caught movemet. She said daddy I see a bunch of them. I couldn't find them. She says there's a ton of them. I get the binocs, count 6. Just to dang dark to shoot.
7am had 3 does come through. They got in an opening and I whistled to stop em, then she couldn't get on em in the scope. Gone.
Around 730 another ruckus. 5 does coming through. They are like the other's, 60-75 yds away and lot of brush. Stopped them, she couldn't get on them quick enough. Dangit!
830 here comes a doe. Same place as others. Whistled and couldnt get her to stop, no shot. Wait I see another one she said. Yep, there's the buck. Decent 6 or 8. He walked the same line but made a hard turn away from us, never got a chance. Hit the grunt but he didnt care.
What a morning. 16 deer by 9, quit at 1030. They were sure moving this morning. Gonna hit it again in the morning. When we got home from dinner she said daddy, can i go take a shower with that soap again? I dont want the deer ssmelling me. Trained her well.
