heavy fog this morning and as I have noticed many times, when it is foggy, the deer are not out and about. Saw a total of five as compared to the usual 20-30.

Fog is great to slip into the woods. Not so great whenit comes to seeing any deer moving.

I killed my biggest buck to date on a foggy morning in November. Visibility was about 100 yards when I looked up and saw him on a field edge about 75 yards away at around 6:30 in the morning. He went about 30 yards after I put a 50 grain bullet through his rib cage from my MZ. To this day I have no idea which direction he came from or where he was headed. He was just standing there kind of eerily like a statue in the fog.

But I agree, fog does slow down overall deer movement and activity. I see the same thing with heavy frosts, as the deer typically don't get up and going good until the sun melts some of the frost away.

Don't see too many in the fog.The frost is another story though. The deer seem to hang in the woods until the frost melts.I'll take a frosty morning anyday.

I have killed a ton of deer in the fog, including my best bow kill buck and my best muzzleloader buck. Have seen and killed a bunch of does. Deer love moving in the fog and I like hunting in it.

I like the fog but don't recall seeing too many deer in it. Maybe it makes them a little bit more weary.

I believe deer move more in the fog but are seen less due to the limited visibility. Some of my best hunts have been on foggy mornings.

I agree and I really dislike the limited visibility from heavy fog! I think the deer are fine with it and move normally as they simply rely on their nose.

bowriter,
THing is, you probably "looked at" 50 PLUS deer. You just could not see them for the fog!

HAH!!!

BTW...I have the same problem at night.
I usually see more when it is NOT DARK!!!
dad-gum darkness!

HAH...again!!!
