The only dealing I had with Ruger customer service was horrible. I bought a brand new MK77 Hawkeye All Weather and it couldn't put 3 shots on a paper plate at 100yds. We tried 2 sets of rings, 3 scopes and every brand and weight of ammo I could get my hands on. I finally gave up, called them and sent the rifle back. I got it back a few weeks later with a letter saying it was fixed, with no explanation of what was fixed or any other details, but it was no better than when I first bought it. Since it was close to deer season by then I took it to the local place where I had bought it and he could do no better with it. He called Ruger, explained everything he tried and it got sent back again. I got the rifle back a few weeks later with a letter saying there was nothing wrong with it. It still wouldn't consistently put 3 shots on a paper plate at 100yds! I called Ruger and they told me they only guarantee that a rifles functions and that they do not guarantee accuracy in any way. The rifle was safe to shoot and considered acceptable by them! I haven't owned or considered anything that carries the Ruger name since!

If you like the Hawkeye predator a lot, then take the deal and upgrade. Looks like you would be all-in on the hawkeye at close to actual retail. Will they charge tax and another background fee?

If you don't care for the hawkeye, then sell your current American predator. You got a good deal on it and could probably sell it for close to what you have in it. Then you can get a savage, tikka, bergara, etc.

No way would I invest more in one of their products. I've been really impressed with Bergara these days. Ruger and Remington have really gone down hill. I would also suggest Bergara, Tikka, or Savage. Although, Savage is starting to get pricey with the newly designed stocks.

Yes I've heard bad things about Ruger these days, products aren't made the way they used to be and customer service/warranty's aren't the same as well. Just what I've heard.

I hate you had issues with Ruger n CS .

I very happy with what the CS dept folks did a few months ago with P94 that was stolen n later recovered..dumbass ruined the gun with a grinder. Honestly almost pitched it in garbage or use for paper weight
They went through it an beed blasted it as best could ..n sent it back. Shipping was it.
Do have to get it coated the slide looks like.
From the list of stuff they did basically rebuilt it used parts. It still shoots..
Would like to....never mind..check.

Hopefully it was the who in CS dept n not the whole..

The only way I can see this happening with a bolt action rifle is for it to have very excessive headspace where the bolt hardly touched the case head therefore offering no friction against lifting the bolt handle? What do the fired cases look like? I bet they wouldn't chamber in any other rifle on the planet with the same nominal chambering. Never heard of such a problem before. IF it were a headspace issue, it could be worked around with reloads if you adjusted the sizing die to compensate.
