Is anybody else here collect them on purpose or by accident lol
I had never seen a graphite rod with a graphite Tennessee handle
Within 2 days I acquired seven of them among the many other types of rods I happen to have
From what I could tell they were pretty popular about 30 years ago

Yeah, I remember those. At one time you could get graphite grip tubes to build them from Jann's Netcraft. don't know if they still do. How did you find them?

Dang I'm old—those were the stuff back in the day..
My best was a Loomis Tennessee handle
Got it for $45 at M&Ms in Kingsport when he first opened..
I even asked if the price was right.🤣
Was the perfect rod for a hair jig..

I'm sure there is a bigger hair jig fan than me somewhere, but not by much.
Y'all remember those rods that flared out for the handle, rod and handle were 1 solid pcs and you taped your reel to them?

I have always only used Tn handled rods. A spinning rod with a real seat feels like a shoe with a rock in it to me…… uncomfortable. I prefer solid cork over the solid graphite handles, but I have both. I probably have about 30 Tn handled Falcon spinning rods with over a dozen of them left still in the wrapper. Enough that me or my grandkids will never have to buy another.

Cruising to Facebook marketplace I'm always looking for vintage rods Guy had a couple others he said hey I've got this vintage lews with the graphite handle I had never seen one It was pretty inexpensive and like brand new so I said hell I'll take it
Next day I was looking at some other vintage rods and a guy had six more just like the other
But couple were Browning when they owned lews

So I guess now I collect these I do have a couple with just a straight cork handle
One is an old lamiglas The other is a vintage All-Star rod from the '80s
I collect Berkley lightning rods too
The good thing is when I find these rods I don't think I've given any more than 20 for the nicest of one and I don't feel bad buying them either
I'll pull one off the rack and use it any day
I've got a bunch of vintage lures some of them apparently would bring some decent money
Same thing My 12-year-old wants to get fishing If he sees a lure he likes he wants to give it a try I tell him let er rip 😁

Don't have any Berkley Bionix rods do you?

No it's an x-16-6 6' casting
All of the Berkeley's I have are casting rods and if I remember right all of the Lew's speed sticks and browning with the Tennessee handle are spinning
Thanks for checking anyway! I sauger fish with a 6' MH Berkley Bionix spinning rod and I'd pay wayyyy too much for a couple more of them. At one point I had 4-5 but they've gotten broken over the years. I can't find anything else that I like as well as them.

I'll keep my eyes peeled You don't know how many times I go to buy an old zebco 33 or some other old vintage fishing stuff and they're like hey how about you need any of these and it's on from there lol
I went today to buy four rods Guy says hey looks like I've got seven more You might be interested in pulls them all out I said sure what the hell 🤣

You need to try a 7'1" finesse special by Dixie Customs. You'll never go back

Too long. I've toyed with all kinds of stuff and 6' always wins out for me.
A couple years ago I decided I wanted a new 6' worm rod for throwing Texas rigs to precise targets. You can't imagine how hard it was to find. Almost all baitcaster worm rods with cork handles are 7'+ now. I finally found a 6' St. Croix worm rod with a cork handle and it was worth the search!

When I was a kid all we used were Lew's Speed Sticks with Ambassador reels (baitcasters). I think the rods were all 5-6 or 6'. Great rods.
I think the shorter rods have more feel to them than 7 7.5 common now. My #1 fly and rind rod is a Mitchell 6.6" light power rod that had about 8" of tip broke off. I reworked the tip and put another tiptop on it. Man, you can feel fish looking at the jig with that thing.

I've got an old Berkley Lightningrod. I thought I was yugoting in tall cotton when I got it. I caught about 1/3 ton of fist with it. The line guides are in bad shape. I wanted to have them all replaced a few years ago and the guy wouldn't do it. Said it would cost more than the rod was worth. I would love to have it back in working order. Can't seem to find someone to do it. If you can find it in your heart to direct me to someone willing to take on the job, please let me know. Otherwise it can be yours for a negotiated delivery fee.

If you're handy do you know that you can replace the line guides at home
Don't get me wrong It's not something you want to do in a hurry but it's not as hard as you think
I have yet to do a complete rod full of line guides just one or two here and there

I'm handy with mechanical things. I wouldn't trust myself to wrap line guides. It would cost me more to buy the equipment to do a proper job than a new rod. This rod needs at least three done, probably 4.
