Just heard from a good friend I hunt Arkansas with every year. He is a true waterfowl addict! He travels to SAS Canada every year In Sept. and stays all month then follows the migration south ending in Arkansas where we spend most of Jan. hunting in timber. Today after driving with a trailer full of decoys across America he tried to cross the Canadian border where he was to meet a small group (already flown in) to hunt next week. He has other friends planned (non-refundable tickets already bought) coming for subsequent weeks. Long story short He was arrested when he tried to cross the border seems he had an outstanding warrant stateside. Never been a more honest law abiding man. 65 years old retired environmental engineer never spent a day in jail his whole life! Turns out last year while in Brinkley Arkansas (bump in the road) he got a parking ticket that he says he never saw. They issued a bench warrant for failure to appear and that got him ARRESTED at the border! He finally got a attorney to get him released on condition he return directly to Arkansas! Kept his shotguns to be returned at a later date pending resolution of his offense and the icing on the cake is because of this incident without going to a considerable expense and at least 9 mos of legal crap he will never hunt Canada again! The friends already there tried to cross the border back to buy decoys at Cabelas to salvage at least some of the hunt and was told they would have to obtain a import permit to bring them back into Canada and that would take at least 3 weeks. UNBELIEVABLE!
