So I wanted to make an observation set this morning and brought my bow in case thing went my way. I am hunting a new piece for property that has good promise. I show up @5:45 to discover someone liked my stand better than I did and also they felt it was justified to trespass in order to collect my stand...[emoji35][emoji35][emoji35]

Having stands stolen sux but not finding out till you have made your trek in with all full anticipation of a hunt, really sux{had happen twice to me over recent years}.Hate it for you not only do you miss a hunt ,you now have to deal with trespasser/thief.Best of luck

I hate that for you. I have dealt with my share of thieves the last few years. It really stinks. So sorry.

Update*** after watching 4 young bucks feed this morning. I decided to scout this property a little since it was raining and would help disguise my movements. As I worked through the property I came upon my stolen tree stand...it was 20 yards over a bait pile and peanut butter jar!!! [emoji35]I also located the thieves blind sitting right on top of the bait and 3 dead doe carcasses within 70 yards of the location! [emoji35][emoji35][emoji35]I cant believe someone would be so dumb and brazen to steal my stand and not take it off the property...?

The property owner has been notified and so have the local TWRA agents. I hope they pop this little turd bucket. He obviously has no regard for property or life!

The good news is I got my stands back....

Good lord they got guts and are stoooopid! Glad your stand was intact. I hope they get busted in the act.

I thought my ladder was stolen when I went to check it out yesterday. The straps were cut and it was gone. But then I found it by accident about a hundred yards away in the same thicket. Judging by the scene, it appeared that some kids had gotten into it over the summer, did not look like anyone was actually hunting out of it.

nothing tics me off more than a thief.Especially ones that kill animals and let them lay.glad you got your stuff back.never would have figured it would have been setup on the same piece of property even.

I'll bet you the culprit is a mentally deficient child between 7 & 17 yrs old,
and his dad is just trying "to help him out" (and himself),
and will play on your sympathy.

Probably live very close by, walk right out their back door to hunt.

Will also bet whoever is baiting there has killed a lot of turkeys over that.

Probably the only reason you didn't see them this morning is they were in Sunday school.
They are THIEVES, DISHONEST nonetheless.

How stupid can someone be lol. I hate that for you. Hope you catch them.

How stupid can someone be . . . .
Most likely just a guy (and/or his child) who believes they're above the law, sometimes solely because they live on the property.
I'll bet you whoever is doing this is walking there from their backyard.

Will also bet they've been doing this for years with impunity,
and that's part of why our seeing this seems so bold and "stupid" to us.

But to them, it's likely just how they've done things for years
to the point they are confident of no repercussions.

Mine came one morning with the theft of a loc-on.

They left the climbing stick but took the stand. I didn't realize it until I climbed the tree and got to the end of the stick and realized the stand was gone.
Guess I should consider myself lucky they didn't take the stick when they took the stand.

How did TWRA discuss you hunting over the next few weeks? It would suck to get tangled up in someone's bait pile if another officer happened to do a check.

According to the reg book I could still hunt the north 15 acres legally. However I have decided to back off of this property and let TWRA have a look around before we go back in. Hopefully they can catch him.

I had a ladder stand stolen about 7 or 8 years ago. Amazingly it showed back up in a fencerow on my property line a couple of years later! There was no doubt it was mine as it had the same pieces missing/same exact flaws. It couldn't have been just an identical model. At first I was mad when I saw it and was going to go get my truck and take it down. Well, as I stood there looking at it, I recalled how uncomfortable it was to sit in when I had used it. I decided it would be a better punishment to let whoever stole it (I had a real good idea) suffer by sitting in that awful seat rather than inflicting the same punishment on my rear. The real funny thing is that it got stolen from the guy who stole it from me not long after that. :tu: :tu: :tu:

whats up with the dead carcasses? Think they were stripped of the meat or just killed for fun?

I can't find anything that would lead me to believe that disease caused these deer to die. My only assumption is that they are being shot and not recovered. All the deer are within a 100 yard radius of the bait location.

TWRA has set up on the bait 3 times to no avail. They hung cameras to monitor the comings and going's of whoever is responsible for this. Hopefully they aren't wise to our trap
