This guy came cruising by around 8:30 this morning. I thought when I laid eyes on him he had two main beams on his left side. One of the most unique racks I have ever laid eyes on from the stand. Found 1 small speck of blood where he was standing when I shot him and nothing else. I had a super bad feeling in my gut but ended up finding him about 60 yards away piled up behind a big log. Didn't see him the first big circle after not finding blood but came up the opposite ridge the second trip and spotted him. This is the first deer I have shot with the Barns Expander MZ bullets but have shot 4 coyote and they all had massive holes in them so I am a little disappointed in the performance on a deer. The shot was 1" behind the tip of the shoulder blade. It was a clean pass through with more blood showing on the entrance than the exit with a small exit that appears to show no expansion. I'm shooting 70 grains by weight of Blackhorn powder and 250 grain bullet. The shot was around 40 yards.

Awesome! Love how unique and the mass. Do you have any history or trail cam pics of him?

No. I ran cameras on this place for several years but stopped because there is always a good deer or two hanging around but no way to pattern them on this property. Never any rhyme or reason for there movement that I can tell so now I just hunt it.

Shoot the same setup with the Barnes bullets shot a deer 2 years ago at about 30 yds never found blood for about 100 yds or so then he started bleeding then went dry again. Searched for the deer and finally found him 10 pm that night alive bedded in a strip pit. Decided to back out and come back in morning. Came back next morning and deer was gone from his bed only found one speck of blood in the bed and never found the deer. Was disappointed in the bullet performance.

Woooweee! Trigger that's a dandy! Congrats buddy!! I'm also shooting 70gw of Blackhorn behind a 260 gr lead hp bullet, generic from Knight. It has killed every buck I've ever shot with it from the very beginning, mushrooms perfectly.

Super buck! Congrats! And I understand your concern on the blood trail or lack of. I switched to Barnes and have been pleased with their performance. Taken 3 bucks with them. Two dropped in sight and one went 60 to 70 yards....first 20 to 30 yards no blood....then it's started spraying....we gotta remember, it's a muzzleloader....not gonna see the terminal damage on exit as we do with high power rifles....good news is you got through and had an exit....my previous choice in bullets never would pass through....and that's why I switched..... congrats again on a great buck!!
