I have taken the day off & headed to Yuchi Refuge for my muzzy hunt this weekend. Scouting today & hopefully killing tomorrow. Want to give a thanks to WGK for helping me get my smokeless conversion ready for my hunt.

Yes a huge thanks to JeepKuntry! I couldn't shoot if it wasn't for your help! Thanks brother!!!!

I'm sitting in open woods between bedding & a corn field. I must say I've got a good feeling about it!

I saw lots of does today. But I'm on a buck hunt & have not seen the first buck. I will be back @ it tomorrow.

Good luck brother . I had three nice bucks feeding on acorns walking straight to me this morning and some jack leg came bouncing throughout the field with his truck and trailer of atvs . Shoot me a text and will get together and hunt on my place.

Yea, sounds good! I will give us a shout!

Sorry I did not post about my hunt yesterday but I was tired from hard hunting, driving back to middle TN and flat mad at myself. I had to learn a lesson the hard way yesterday morning. I was sitting on a ridge line, and off to my left I could hear movement around 9:15. After 5 min or so I saw some movement about 30 yards to my right but it was pretty thick. I then saw a very large/tall 8-9 pt. rack. I could not get a visual of the body. Needless to say I knew it was a shooter right away. Anyway, he fed to within 20 yards but was behind a tree. I put the scope on him and had a shot on his chest quartering to me. I made the mistake of waiting for him to take one more step. He never took another step forward. He broke nervous and bolted. I have run it over and over again and had a kill shot. I was so sure he was gonna take a few more steps. The wind was in my face. I don't know what spooked him. Bottom line I had an ethical kill shot and out thought myself and it cost me. It was the only buck I saw over the 2 day hunt. Oh, and 4-5 min after he ran off I heard a shot the direction he was headed. UhGGGGG!!!!!!!!!
I will say that I had a blast with my hunting buddy and my time at Yuchi. I want to thank all the guys that gave me input on the land at Yuchi. It was very helpful to know some places to go set up.

Sounds like you had a good time, I know that buck made you sick. They have a way of doing that to us sometimes. I am pretty sure no one got that buck. There was only 1 checked out and it was Saturday morning.

Dang Brother that makes me sick reading it. I had the exact same shot on a buck last season with my rifle. I just imagined where the heart was a turned it loose. He went about 20 yards. I sure would like to have seen what that 195 Barnes would have done to him. Hay season is young brother there will be other chances.
