Headed to Michigan next week to hunt and as much as I hated to do it I decided to spend the money on a pair of UA 4.0 base layer bottoms and the warmest Basspro top baselayer. I guess I will see just how good they are.

i know from first hand be sure and put that as your first layer. The first time i wore the bass pro equivalent of them i had them as second layer and sweated and froze to death. that's one of the good things they wick that moisture away and dries you off.

Dadgummit.....now the temps are going to be in the 40's and rainy! Looks like I need to re pack.

OK, hunted this morning in 32 degrees, freezing rain and wind......stayed warm.

Base layer with Under Armour I do not. Merino Wool all the way. Sometimes I'll finish it off with an UA 3.0 if it's in the low 20s but I always start with Merino Wool. It just makes a huge difference.

Hard to beat UA. I just add UA layers and wear my normal Scentlok depending on the temps. One layer of UA in the 30s and 40s. Two layers of UA in the 20s and 3 layers in the teens. Works great for me.

I broke down and got the 5.0 top/bottom. It's a looser fit than I thought. It was expensive as crap. It's kept me warmer with less layers than anything I have. I bow hunt through most the season so keeping layers down (bulk) was the reason I bought it. Overall I'm pretty impressed, however in do not have merino and have never tried it. I can hunt with two layers versus three or four with the same outcome. If you had a long walk to your setup you would be drenched by the time you got there.

I have several sets of UA gear ,and what I like doing is if the temps are in the 30's I'll wear just plain old UA cold gear with my bibs and jacket. If it's in the 20's I wear my 2.0 base with the cold gear over it, and in the teens I'll wear my 2.0 base in and pack my 5.0 in along with my bibs and jacket. Reasoning behind packing several areas I hunt at Ft Campbell are over a mile walk with my stand and bow. No complaints about UA here, plus if you've got questions about how to layer the items you have you can call them . See I've always been told regular cold gear goes against your skin, that's not the right way if your planning on wearing the base layers also. Best insulation out there is dead air space.
