I had two great days fishing with Larry Gorham (from Kentucky) and his friend, John Turner from McMinnville (with the BIG bass).
They put 40 crappie in the boat on Chickamauga Lake Tuesday - 17 longline trolling and 23 shooting docks.
Wednesday was a mixed bag morning in the tailwaters of Chickamauga Dam, even though bad weather cut their trip short. But they put some quality fish in the boat Wednesday, a total of six species.
The cats were on cut bait and the bass were on tiny (2-inch) shad minnows I dipped up. I fish the little shad minnows on light tackle - light spinning rods with 6-pound test line. That means John had LENGTHY battles with the two big largemouth he hooked. The biggest one was about 5.5 lbs.
