After using some of the tools suggested to me on here, I have been able to find public lands that look promising, some of which are the TVA Undeveloped lands. Question is, are there signs with rules/regs located at the properties? I have read the rules and regs on the TVA website, but it doesn't really specify if there are certain limitations to each piece, only that hunting is allowed, not allowed, or archery only areas. I'm assuming that the hunting allowed pieces follow all the state and local laws. Just trying to figure all this out before season so I don't end up saying "I didn't know" to the wrong guy if you know what I mean.

Thanks for the help

They have all the basic rules and regs on there website. If you have OnX it will show you if it is in one of there special restriction areas. At least thats how i am figuring them out .

I've been looking at my OnX as well. I'll probably end up calling the local game warden to get more insight on it, but for now I think lots of e-scouting is the plan. Looking forward to my first season in East TN this year

I am doing the same here where I am at. Kind of excited though, new area, figuring it all out again, and failing is the best teacher. But I also want to make sure I am legal as well. Like I said exciting!

TVA land that is open to the public for hunting follows the state game laws. If there are special restrictions it should be noted. But things do change so always best to be safe. TVA used to have a department that dealt solely with their recreational lands as well as getting detailed maps but that department no longer exist as it was. Best cyoa move is in question is ask the local warden. Around here it's land for waterfowl you have to watch out for.

If you do have specific TVA land questions, please call 1-800-TVA-LAND. We have actual people who answer that line and can either directly answer your questions or put you in touch with our Natural Resource staff who oversee those exact lands.

Also, our TVA Land comprises 293,000 acres spread out across the Valley (mostly all surrounding waterways). If you have a set of GPS coordinates or a very specific (and recognizable) address nearest the property, then that will help the people on that line in answering your questions. Because our land does lie in TN and in states outside of TN too, you may be able to satisfy your public hunting efforts in various states just by doing your e-scouting and calling that number. Hope this helps.

My OnX doesn't designate TVA property. I have the TN Government Lands option checked, but TVA doesn't show up.

This is what I have on

FYI. In some cases, the maps used on some apps pull from the respective state and county maps. Those county maps usually use tax maps (sales) for updates of properties. TVA properties have been in existence for a long time - in terms of property ownership. Many times those county tax maps could be using "old" names such as "US Government". If you see that listed on your app and it is along a public waterway in Tennessee, you are most likely looking at TVA land. As shown in someone's screen shot though, most counties have gotten much better with using the actual TVA name regarding ownership. We have 293,000 acres overall that we manage with most of it bordering waterways, dams, and power plants.

Just remember, not all TVA land is open to hunting or to the public. Be sure to call 1-800-TVA-LAND to find out about a specific piece you are interested in hunting or traveling onto before going just to be sure it is open to the public for the means which you are intending to use it for.

One other thing: TVA is considered a federal entity which is why some apps may not recognize TVA properties if you are looking for "state governmental lands or properties". You would need to look for "federal lands" within that state on some apps.
