Tuning traps

I'm new to this, just ordered 3 duke #3. I keep hearing you have to tune these . Can someone give me description? thanks

Also what is a good bait? Coyote urine? My neighbor gave me a rubber coated jaw duke #3 and I used 3 eggs for bait, I caught one in 3 days but apparently pulled out

To tune your traps the pan tension needs to be adjusted and the dogs need to be bent so the pan sits level with the jaws. This is a general idea. Lots of good books and you tube videos.

YouTube it.. I set mine on 3 pounds, file a night latch in the pan, file the dog square and then angle it under the bottom a little. Add a inline swivel if it doesn't have any be, also add a cross stake swivel, to start with
