Finally getting the new hunting rifle tuned up. 44 inch swamped Rice barrel. 1:48 twist. B profile round cut rifling. Started with.395 hornady ball with .15 patches then tried.18 pillow ticking both oxyoke lubed. Today I got it pretty well centered and shooting nice clover leaf groups with . 20 denim and Mr. Flintlock patch lube. Actually found cotton canvas material I have yet to put the calipers on that I would guess is .22 thick. Had to hammer start and cut at barrel. All shooting was done with 50 grains Goex 3 F at 25 yards. Going to try to take a few critters with it this fall and winter. Built by Chris Walker of Grenada, Mississippi. Forger trigger guard, butt plate, side piece, lollipop tang and sights. Fine East TN style rifle.

Looks like Mr. Walker did a fine job creating the lines of a Tennessee rifle. Best I can tell, he nailed that trigger guard.
He takes a lot of pride in his trigger guards and butt plates

More shooting today. Spit lube on thick cotton canvas. Still haven't found my calipers but it's thicker than the .20 denim I use. Group was tightened with spit lube cut patch at muzzle. As I was wrapping up my horn started getting light so I switched to 30 g 3 F Goex. Gun shot even tighter. Sounded like I had a suppressor on the barrel. Very quite going off with ear muffs on. .40 is impressive so far. Rice barrel with round bottom grooves cleans and loads effortlessly.

All bear greased up and resting. Took out a couple of paint balls at 25 yards. I know the .395 round ball is sufficient for Eastern big and small game in TN. Regs say 36 and up.

Beautiful rifle gun.
I hear that ol' Davy Crockett killed a bunch of bears with a .40, but I wouldn't try it. Great squirrel rifle, though.
And - the lock is on the correct side for us lefties. :)~)
