In a river hopefully!
If you own a Ruger LCP would you trust yours or your families life on it? I have read some articles on it and I am still not sold on it. I mean, the weapon has already had one recall.

What's your thoughts as a primary defense weapon or a glovebox or tackle box gun?

Thanks

Only after I had put enough rounds of different kinds of ammo through it just to make sure its going to funtion like its suppose to.

This is a great gun to carry in situations when you can carry nothing else. If you are dressed to conceal a 1911, then I wouldn't carry an LCP. I believe the LCP to be reliable and yes trust my life on it when nothing else fits the bill.

I have one, and I do trust my life and my families life with it all the time. I have fired 200 rounds of various ammo through it without a hiccup. I here guys freaking out about the recall, but the recall didnt have anything to do with the functionality of the gun, it was only to change the firing pin/trigger assembly because the old system could fire if the gun was dropped just right. The odds of that happenning were slim to none anyway, but Ruger has to cover their rear over such things. The gun was gone for a grand total of a week, and I got a free extra mag and a hat with it when it returned. The gun shoots way better than a pocket pistol has any business shooting, I can put a clip full into a fist sized group at 10 yards with ease. Its the perfect pocket pistol IMO.

Thanks Kimberman for that response. I was looking for something to carry during say the summer with limited clothing. It's pretty hard concealing even an XD sub-compact unless someone here as an answer or trick. I use a Blackhawk cqc or a galco 444SOB, but these are not perfect. I don't want to walk into someplace and have someone notice for obvious reasons.

The only Ruger auto loader I'll ever own is a 10/22. I wouldn't trust my life to ANY Ruger auto-loader.

i dont carry a gun for protection, but if i did i wouldnt carry a auto loader. i have a couple revolvers and shot dozens of others and they all went bang every time the trigger was pulled. i cant say the same for the 10 or so diffrent auto loaders ive shot.

sig (i own)

glock (please God dont let pmc see this) personally i hate glocks but they are good

Thats OK, I wouldnt own a Remington unless its an 870! I do love my Sigs, and also hate Glocks, so we agree on part of it.

Not meaning to start an argument but if I'm reading correctly, every autoloader you've shot malfunctioned. Is that correct?

I think Kimberman has the right idea. You can trust your life to ANY weapon that you've shot enough to know that it will function like it's supposed to.

I'd say any XD Subcompact, Glock, or a good 357 mag (like a Ruger SP101).

As far as caliber, either a 9mm, 357 mag, or .45.

My mother has the LCP and loves it... I think its a neat little gun and I'd trust it. I currently carry a Taurus Ultra-Lite .38 and am considering a Walther PPS in .40 I held one at a gun shop the other day and it felt great.
I personally am not a big fan of glocks... The glock 22 is the issued sidearm for my department and its a tough, good handgun but i just have never shot glocks as good as I shoot other handguns such as the Springfield XD which I love. I would trust the glock to save my life if need be.
Just make sure whatever gun you get you have the confidence in the gun that it will do the job and spend alot of time practicing drawing from where you will have it concealed.

In a word YES--it is better than a scowl or a ballpoint pen don't you think? Can it malfunction--yes. Is a 9mm, .40, .45 or a .454 a more powerful and surer stopper than a .380--- well yes. Can your Ford, Chevy, Dodge malfunction-yes. Can your Glock, Sig, S&W, or (fill in the blank) malfunction-- well yes I reckon-- but some seem to think not. We, my wife, carries a LCP and in our limited experience it works fine. Would a Mauser 98 be better-well yes. But one has to look at the purpose that a firearm serves and there are compromises that have to be made. Ruger makes quality firearms as do all the other manufacturers mentioned-none are foolproof. no i aint sayin they all malfunctioned, but a more than a couple of them did.

i've got one and like it. Would i put my glock in the safe and just have the LCP on the night stand? NO. But it is a very good gun for what it is made for.Low concealment, easy to carry, great in a ankle holster and yeah, i can put every round in your chest at 15yrds. This gun is made for close combat. I would feel very comfortable with it in any normal attack {mugging, carjacking,}ect. But it's not my home defense weapon by far. Can't beat a glock and a 870 for home defense. But on the Harley you can't beat the LCP,carry it all day. One thing i've found is a right ankle holster worn on the left leg is more comfortable. If your right leg dominant. In other words, wear the pistol on the INSIDE of the leg, less bounce this way!

Will it stop someone? Do you think you'd do me much harm with about 6 hollow points of anything in your chest? The ole saying ...if you shoot a knifeman in the chest at 10 yards with a 9mm, your gonna get cut. That's bull, if i shoot you in the chest with anything, and allow you to cut me, i deserve to get my a## cut.

Were you able to determine why?

ruger and a tauras your guess is as good as mine.
