Does the cold and freezing temperatures/precepitation/conditions of the winter months affect Trophy Rocks? I am trying to decided if I put several out this weekend or wait until spring due to the winter weather months.

No. The only thing that I have seen them have any effect to is rain, when it is placed in a field edge or any open area, the rock seems to "disappear" quicker. But the rock is not gone, it is simply in the ground.

Right, loose trace mineral salt will melt and leech into the soil, remaining there for along time to come! Cheaper and works just as well or better too!

Just get the cheap 50lb blocks from Tractor Supply just as good and last longer.

I thought the same thing and used them for years until a friend gave me a TR I put it out and my pics close to doubled! The deer used the site more frequently and stayed longer when they did.

I have used cheap versions of a lot of things and I must say I will not sacrifice when it comes to TR! I use them religously! Best mineral block out there IMO.

I saw the granulated mineral called "lucky buck" at the co-op today and wondered how it would stack up against the TR? 20 lbs for $19.99.

I have had the same experience blueridge. I dont know what it is, and every deer herd is different, but boy did they really start showing up the 1st time I put a TR out. I now have been running 5 TR locations for 4 years and havent been dissappointed yet. Every once in a while, someone will put out something different on our property and a camera wouldnt pick up one single picture in a 1 month period over it. Anyways, I also like the "all natural" aspect of the TR

Same for me. I experimented by putting a TR and a salt block 20 yards apart each with a trail cam on them. The TR had more than double the pics as the salt.

I ended up setting the salt block next to the TR. I had many pics of deer swapping from one to the other. Some for more than 30 minute sessions.

They are not even close . The TR has over 60 different trace minerals in it . the white blocks are nothing but salt, the loose mineral contains man made minerals , same with the lucky buck. Also remember once any of it leeches into the ground , you are forcing the deer to eat dirt and they don't need dirt in their diet. MOST willlick directly on the TR thusly getting more benefit of the minerals. some will however still dig up the dirt for reasons we still don't understand. You can lick the TR your self and taste the difference . It does not have the strong " bite " that the others have. We have a table salt that comes out of the mine that is the number ! selling seasalt the world over. Bayou Buck is correct , put it on a rock and if possible under a tree with overhanging branches that will shed some of the rain. Placed on the ground will result in a hole that collects rain, it will dissolve faster that way. The 20 lb TR at your store actually will be 24-26 lb average. They are hand sorted at the mine and we had rather you get an extra pound or two than come up with a 19 lb one ! We now have literally thousands of hunters that have done a comparison. See the TrophyRock website for some amazing pics. Also we have a trail cam contest that produces some really happy winners monthly/yearly !
