I recently bought a rifle from a guy on 24hour and paid him 4 going on 5 weeks ago. The guy hasn't returned or actually read my PM's and hasn't returned my calls. This particular individual has over 4,000 posts and seems to be a veteran member with no quarrels with anyone. How much longer should I wait before I take legal action to get my money back? I hope this individual is in good health and is able to afford his internet bill to reply.

I will not buy another rifle again from anybody over the internet unless it is a FTF transaction. Lesson learned.

I'd start working on getting my money back NOW. There is no reason for him to be holding onto it for that long. The least a person can do is give a reason on what is taking them so long.

I agree with UPS,no way you shouldn't have heard anything. Did you get a phone # or anything ? Have you talked with the addmit guys over there ? Thats really a bummer,I've done loads of net gun sales and never had a problem yet. How did you pay for it?

post a general question on the classifieds, "has anyone heard from ____?" and explain the situation. That often gets the ball rolling, and also informs others that the person may be someone they don't want to deal with.

I've bought several longguns and numerous other stuff off different classifieds forums, and knock on wood, have had nothing but excellent transactions so far.

IMO, ebay seems to be a place where you'd be more likely to be ripped off.

Oh, and the liklihood of your recovering your money will be directly dependent on how hard and how much time/effort you put into the recovery.

You've got his name and address, you should be able to do a reverse phone number lookup... ask to see if anyone with membership to the people finders will do a search for him, including where he works, SS#, etc. Start calling his job, his neighbors, etc. Keep at it long enough, and he'll realize you aren't worth ripping off and send your money back.

I'm going to give the guy benefit of the doubt. I'll give him till the end of this week. If he doesn't reply, I will post a question in regards to our transaction and his where abouts.

I finally got a PM back from the guy. He had the flu real bad and was down for weeks. He said he's going to ship the rifle tomarrow and he's going to add some other goodies in the shipment as well. So hopefully this Thursday I will get the gun.

I'm glad it looks like it's going to work out. I bought a rifle from a guy on LSN and when it got here it wasn't as he advertised. It ended up working out, even though I'm out the shipping back to him and the transfer fee, but it still scares me to buy a firearm that I can't put my hands on first.
