do you mean ranges or groups? I think the longest shot i've put on a deer with a round ball was about 100 yds. i'm sure they would shoot further than that . I hunt in some pretty thick woods and i would rarely have a shot much over about 50 yards.

both,

i can put about 5 shots in a golf ball size area before i clean the barrell. of course there are people that are alot more accurate than that but for the shorter ranges i shoot deer at, it works good enough for me.

Fifty yards offhand, .54 flintlock, iron sights, patched round ball.

One hundred yards offhand, ditto above. I've witnessed 5 shot, one ragged hole, groups a couple of times at this distance. Real black powder and round balls will get the job done. I'm not going to kid myself or anyone else that the round ball's ballistics are superior.....they ain't.....but don't tell all the deer I've killed with them that. :)

I've killed deer out to 100 yds with a traditional gun using a ball. These days, however, I'll keep my shots at no more than 50 or 60 yards.

hey i know how that is. I started into mz when i was 14 and it wasn't anything to shoot for hours at a time way back then.
