Another update from this weekend. In the ground 28 days and it's looking pretty good. Looks like Chester County has been getting good rains.
Sprayed it one last time and top dressed it with urea.

I'm just curious about how many lbs of seed you are supposed to plant per acre for corn with a planter. I know it depends some on row spacing but just looking for a general estimate from you guys with planters.

Since I broadcast, I just make my best guess and let 'er fly. As a result, I got my corn way too thick this year. :(

On avg a bag will plant about 2-1/2 acres. At 240.00 per bag. I couldn't broadcast them

I'm gonna guess about about 38 to 40 lbs per acre is what I used. It was a 45 lbs of seed in the bag. That is on 30 inch rows at a 8 inch spacing. That one bag is Susposed to plant 2 acres and I had about 2 lbs left in and about 3 or 4 lbs left over when I got done.

I would think when broadcasting you might go a little bit heavier to account for loss of germination. But that's a guess.

OK, I used about 50lbs/acre. My corn is darned thick. And I mixed in 100lbs of soybeans too. I havne't seen hardly any beans coming up though but I'm suspecting the deer may be eating the beans as soon as they pop through the ground. I've never had that happen before but this year is a bit different since this entire area(650+ acres) is planted in corn and my little food plot of beans may be getting a lot more attention that ever before.

A.Hall, this is NWTF RR corn that I got from Tickweed last year for about $25/50lbs. That makes it a LOT easier to get generous with the seed rate.
