Will any brand of scope ring/bases work for mounting on a Tikka, or do I have to use only Tikka proprietary equip? First time dealing with Tikka set up and want to make sure I don't get something I can't use right off the bat. The receiver is d&t for bases, and also has dovetail machined into it. Can't I use any rings and bases? Quality ones of course ;) Thanks for any advice guys!

The Talleys and DNZ mounts are the ones I use. The stock rings are not bad if you replace the screws as long as it's not a hard recoiling cartridge.

If you're gonna get a Tikka then you need these. If I had I one, this is how I'd roll with a set of Talleys.

So I'd have to modify them by milling the bases before mounting? I'm a machinist, but I'd rather find some that will mount straight up and not have to modify. ;)

Now, how do I determine whether to use low, med, or high mounts? I plan to only be shooting no more than 300 yds MAX, and will be using a 40mm bell scope.

And while I'm at it, is there any advantage to one piece base and ring units? Seems to me there would be, as it is machined as one piece, eliminating any run out between the rings, and should be in perfect alignment. ?

His are already milled. You just buy them and slap them on. I have pondered a Tikka and was looking at these when I was considering the rifle. 16bore is a good dude and knows his way around a rifle or 3.

Cannot use standard weaver but also do not need to use proprietary tikka rings. Warne makes a great set of rings for the Tikka. You can buy them on eBay for $45 or so. The rings that come with the Tikka are crap. With the warne rings you do not need bases I don't believe. The other option is a pica tinny rail mounted to the dovetail. Then you could use standard weaver style rings

Thanks for all the info guys, I ordered off ebay for price, and free shipping till Friday. ;) Got the Warne Maxiima in Medium for $45. Thanks again for all your help! :)
