i have a knight lk-93 with tasco 3X9-40 scope. toying with the idea of a swap for a side lock muzzle loader 50 cal. i had one a while back and i liked shooting it. would like a great planes or a hawkin style. i just kind of like the traditional rifles better. looking for a round ball,Buffalo bullets. any one interested in a swap?

Trade it and go traditional, ain't nothin like it. I hunt with a modified T/C Renegade. Try some real blackpowder Ain't nothin like that smell in the mornings.

yea my old one i had was real fun to shoot.i have used pyrodex and trip 7 but never real black powder. now the knight is a real nice i like it a lot just some thing about a wood stock side lock.when i took it out i felt kind of like i was going back in time. had the urge to get a coon skin hat :)

Go for it, Look around in pawnshops. They will just about give them away. Wish ya was closer we would get together and make some smoke

got a question . how do you check out the bore condition out when there is no breech plug to take out ? or do you take the plug out even when the mfgr says not to ? my old CVA said not to remove the breech plug. hard to shine a mini mag light down the barrel and look at the same time or is there a easier way ?

Find you a small borelight that drops down the barrel, they are about 7or8 bucks I think, but are well worth the money.I will see if I can find ya a link to one.

For some reason known only to me I have decided to build a flintlock 12 guage shotgun in the English sporting style. Here is a pic of a fine example

Instead of buying a barrel I have used one from a single shot shotgun I found in an old shed over 40 years ago I cut some of the chamber end off , threaded it on the inside, made and fitted a breechplug then cleaned everything up with 180 grit sandpaper

I ordered a grade 4 curly maple rough preformed stock and inlet the barrel and tang

I used some spare time this weekend to cut, grind, silver solder and polish the barrel under rib and ramrod thimbles. This will be soldered to the barrel in a couple of days then the ramrod hole has to be drilled, which is the scariest part of the whole project. One wrong move and a $250.00 piece of wood is ruined :bash:

I will also be making the trigger mechanism, buttplate and triggerguard so the only thing left to buy is the flintlock

This fellow from the Miss. forum has the right idea.

:2TU: The under rib is soldered on and the ramrod hole is drilled :hap:

The reason for the gap between the stock and underrib is for the pewter nosecap that will be poured on

what did ya do to modify it? peep sight?

T/C rear peep sight, lyman hooded front sight,Green Mountain 32 in 1-66 twist barrel 45cal. Haven't had a chance to get it to the range yet, but it should be a good shooter.

getting back to the original subject of this post.
any one put together a kit gun ? from what i seen i can buy one made cheaper than a kit for the same gun.

I have put together a kit gun. I have built several rifles and a few M/L pistols. The first rifle was a T/C Hawken kit I built but it had a Green mountain 36 caliber barell that I built for small game hunting. I have built several M/L rifles and have stocked a few center fire rifles.
