you know the R15 will shoot,,but you can get the same rifle from Bushmaster in black for a lot less money,,

I been thinkin about a PLR16 too myself,,

No no no-don't do it DA. If you are happy in your non AR world don't do it!! LOL There is a never ending series of components, uppers, lowers, barrel lengths, calibers, mags, optics, triggers, stocks, slings, muzzle devices, rails, handgrips and a dozen other things. Having said that I have really been enjoying the AR as a hunting rifle for predators and deer. Don't make it too long, heavy, and unhandy is my advice. PH

If you want a decent AR, get a daniel defense, Bravo Company, or Colt 6920/6940. The M&P15's from S&W are good too (not that cheap crappy sport model though). You can also build a top notch gun from Spikes Tactical for right @ $800. You can get a full mil-spec upper with 1/7 twiat barrel for $500, a lower for $100,daniel defense LPK (lower parts kit)for $100 and a mil-spec tube, buffer, & Magpul MOE stock for another $100. You will be rolling the dice big time with anything from DPMS, Remington, or Bushmaster. They are alright when used to fill a hunting role solely, but for the same or similar money, you can get a really great AR that can fill any role.

I think DA would not be at a disadvantage in buying an AR that wasn't unnecessarily expensive. Filling any role? Like, pull trigger - bang?

I like my cheap crappy sport model, affordable as a start in the ar world and if I feel the need to get a expensive longer ego booster I can most certainly get my money out of it or keep and I'm not breaking the bank. Every gun has a role. jmo....

I think you made a good decision Leader. That "cheap, crappy sport model" as it was called is a great AR. No forward assist no dust cover... Who needs em? You save enough money on the sport to buy optics and still be around the price point of the others. Optics are much more useful than a FA or dust cover.

I ordered a Stag Model 2 TL left hand and I love it.

I just ordered a Stag model 2 thursday. Hopefully have it sometime next week. I read alot on ar15.com before deciding. My other pick in my price range was a RRA.

When you get it clean it up, it's packed with shipping grease but then all of them are. All I did to mine was put a EOTech sight and some pop-up iron sights. I also put on a different sling so I can carry it in front when I want to. That's all I did besides a ton of ammo and a couple dozen Magpul magazines.
