The rifle will be either a browning micro hunter, browning abolt composite stalker or remington 700 sps stainless.

The calibers Im interested in are..
7mm-08
.308 Win
.280 Remington
.270 WSM
7mm WSM
.300 WSM
.300 Win Mag
.338 Win Mag

It will be a good while before I make a definate descision and I have plenty of experience with all but the 7mmWSM, .338WM, and .270 WSM.

I found a discontinued remington 700 mountain rifle in .280 remington that really caught my eye for $450 but Im hoping someone else buys it so I dont have to :D

Help a gun porn enthusiast out LoL

I'd go with the 308 Micro. I have one and it is a shooter. Also if you don't roll your own ammo, the 308 cheaper than the rest and readily available.

I have a 338, and love it. Shoots federal 210 factory into
5/8 inch at a hundred all day long.

Recoil is about the same as my 300 ultra mag.

too many dependants here. if you're punchin paper and hunting in TN i find it hard to beat the 308. if you plan to get into some wide open spaces or go after big game it's a coin toss on the 7mm mag or the 300 win mag but then the 338 does have a nice ring to it.

i'm not big on the short mags just cause of ammo cost and assortment. i like to plink long range so the ammo cost and availability is a big factor to me.

Theres plenty of WSM ammo around. Mainly cause its so freakin high nobody wants to buy it. Every box of it Ive seen at walmart was $40 or more and that was 2 years ago.
