theres a left handed browning that has been cut down to 22" on gunbroker
i'm just wondering what the recoil is going to be like on it
anybody shoot one and is the shorter barrel going to make that much difference
any input would be appreciated

You will lose a little bit of velocity, but that wouldnt concern me as much as the extra noise and extra recoil it will generate.

It'll make a big difference on a 22"er vs a 26"er, esp with the heavy bullets and slow powders.

That's just crazy stupid to cut a 338 down to 22"... Probably similar velocities to a 24"bbl 338-06.

But if the price is really right, I could sacrifice 150 fps. But only if it were on a remmy :)

I shoot a .338 win. mag. I had mine built a little heavy and put a muzzle brake on it. It kicks less than my BSA 30.06.

At 22" you should be able to get a gunsmith to put a brake on it for you. This will help with the recoil.
