They are hatching!

I'm not sure how the hatch is here, haven't seen too many turkeys. I will say, yesterday I was wading a creek near hunting grounds where there is a very good population. I saw 3 or 4 hens, 2 of which were together, with no little ones. Maybe jennies that weren't fertile yet? Today I was trolling the Cumberland River near Old Hickory and saw a hen and a gobbler together on the river bank. Maybe some are still going at it?

One of my deer hunting spots is a thicket that mainly just sees nesting hens. I've seen tracks there this year and expect there to be some babies. Last summer I saw a hen with poults in there.

I bet the two hens together are probably a couple that lost their nest, and we all hope they will try again. I also think that they may very well breed up into mid June, on occasion.

My sightings of hens this time of year go way down, due to them incubating nearly all day long.

Little ones on the ground in Hardeman!! Woot woot!!
