I'm more proud of this 1.5yr old doe than the 8pt that I shot yesterday afternoon. My extremely cold natured son went out with me this morning. We only had less than half a cylinder of gas for the buddy heater, so we knew that our time would likely be short. Got setup less than 10 min before shooting light. He was bundled up to supplement the heater 
Dash read 19 degrees when we got out at the property.
Right after shooting light she stepped out at 100yd. He tried to get on her but couldn't due to the neck gaiter. I started yanking clothes off of him as she disappeared back into the wood line. She came back out and walked straight towards us until she got to about 30yd. I could tell that he was getting the shakes now. I coached him to shoot her through the shoulder since she was quartering-too, and he made a perfect shot. She ran 25yd straight away and fell over in sight.
A short time later a small buck came out at 100yd but he couldn't get on him. We hung out until the heater ran out of gas, waiting for another buck to cruise through. Had to get him bundled back up to go field dress and drag. Made for some great pics
He said that he was happy to get back into the warm vehicle, and the dash was then reading 17 degrees
6.5G with 100gr Nosler partitions did quite a number. Left a great blood trail and blew lung out of the body better than a 9mm
