My wife has an Omega muzzleloader. It was great the first few seasons. Now it is almost impossible to load. I have cleaned it with everything I know. Any ideas to fix this?

Is it rusted or is there some type of corrosion? If not you may want to try a different sabot or bullet. T/C rifles are known to be pretty tight, I shoot a Barnes T-EZ which is designed for tight barrels like my T/C Encore.

Could be some plastic buildup in the rifling? I tried shooting TC Shockwaves in my 45 Encore and had a hard time loading them in a clean barrel.

There is an easy way to tell if its sabot residue.

Pull the barrel off and pour scalding hot water down the bore. Take a wire brush with a patch around it. Shove it through the bore. If you get material on the patch that looks like slimy strings, you have sabot residue. Its not very common these days with the modern polymers used in sabots. Ive only seen it from blowing sabots with SML loads.

Brownwells shotgun wad solvent, acetone and Montana Xtreme Copper Cream will remove some of it also.

If you haven't ever used it before or if its been awhile a good scrubbing with some JBs Bore Cleaner wont hurt a thing either. I use it once a year on my bores.
