Thompson Center Arms Announces Return of the Iconic Hawken Rifle Production Beginning August 2026

Rochester, NH — April 1, 2026 — Thompson Center Arms today announced plans to resume manufacturing of its legendary Hawken rifle, with production scheduled to begin in August 2026. The news marks what would be a highly anticipated return of one of the most beloved traditional muzzleloading rifles in American history.

Long admired by hunters, collectors, and historical shooting enthusiasts, the Hawken rifle has earned a reputation for its craftsmanship, reliability, and classic frontier design. The company stated that the reintroduction would honor this legacy while incorporating modern manufacturing precision.

"We've heard our customers loud and clear," said a company spokesperson. "The Hawken rifle represents more than just a firearm—it's a connection to American history."

Production was said to begin in August 2026, with additional details on availability, pricing, and special editions to follow.

However, before enthusiasts rush to place orders, Thompson Center Arms would like to remind everyone to check the calendar—today is April 1st.

This announcement is part of an April Fools' Day tradition celebrating the enduring passion and enthusiasm of the black powder community. While there are currently no confirmed plans to resume Hawken rifle production, the company appreciates the continued interest and support from its loyal customers.

Speaking of the topic, has anyone offered an AR style blackpowder that you can trick out or a smokeless version. That might sell better. :)

Not buying the Hawken, but now that Thompson Center is back in business, I am about to buy one of their new Triumphs. Crazy expensive, but in my opinion, worth it.

if i can't find another used New Englander, i'll look at the Hawken. i liked my brothers when i tried it at the range.
It will have to be an old one if it's a TC…

I hear Kibler is making a nice Hawken, a more historically correct version of the Hawken if anyone was looking for that particular model.👍

The only ones I see T/C bringing back (on their website) are the Encore and the Triumph.
