Probably because handgun hunting is in the minority. I have never taken mine given the opportunity to take my rifle. I do enjoy shooting my contender.

I love hunting with a handgun. Been doing it for over 30 years and have taken a lot of deer with one. I guess I got that from my dad. He hunted with one for as long as I can remember and the last few years of his life, that's all he would hunt with. Dad let me start hunting with one as a teenager and when I was 16, he bought me my on Ruger Super Black Hawk 44 mag. I need to knock the dust off that thing. Those were some good times.

I usually have a contender or encore pistol with me when I go to some of my shooting houses along with my rifle. Long shots for rifle and shorter shots for pistol. We used to reserve one weekend for pistol only in our hunting group for anyone that wanted to take part. Each hunter put up $10 and first pistol hunter in with a buck got the pot. If no one killed the pot rolled over to the next year and you still put in another $10. We did that for a few years and then it just died. Good times though.

I've taken my Optima muzzleloader pistol out on a few occasions. Had a young little 4 point at 20 yards last season and decided to let him walk. I'm determined to at least take a doe with it this season to say I've broke it in. It's a blast to shoot.

I just bought a Tc contender in 45-70 with a 14 inch barrel. I'm going to try my best to kill one with it this year

I have a Ruger super blackhawk with the 10.5" barrel and a simmons pro hunter scope. I love that pistol and have shot a few does with it. Definitely fun to hunt with.
