Tarsal Glands Still Black

Why would they still be jet black right now? She appears to be very pregnant so I guess that answers my question? Is it due to hormones? I've seen lots of pregnant does on my farm but never really noticed the glands being that dark.

I think you have the answer. I've never noticed stained tarsals in spring, but then I don't run cameras in spring. But I strongly suspect it is the huge swing in hormones that a doe goes through as she approaches birthing.
