Have watched this buck for months on camera and decided I wanted to take him so I could get a pack mount to honor my father who passed away last year. Not the biggest deer, but was the perfect proportions for a pack mount, and a buck my dad would have been proud to have taken. I've hunted almost nonstop since the archery opener, and didn't see him until a week into muzzleloader. At last light he came into my greenfield, and as I was cocking the hammer, he stepped out of the plot and into the underbrush. Fast forward to this morning and I hunted an area of my property I've left untouched for two years. At 7:15 he came cruising through, and the rest is history. A 50 yard shot with the 30-06 ended him after a 30 yard dash. The photo is how I found him. Regarding the pack mount, Wilson's Wildlife Artistry in Crossville does these and uses memorabilia I've provided to finish it out. My father's compass, his hunting knife (which I used only for this deer), his father's carbide coal mining lantern, my canteen from when I was a kid, and a flannel jacket will adorn the frame. Can't wait to see the end result.
