An unfortunate turn of events left me with a 270 case stuck. First time this has happened to me. Yes I did the rookie vice grip move that obviously didn't work. Watched this video and did as instructed and worked perfectly. Most may know this but going to share for fellow beginners.

My boys started loading at age 13/14 and I am afraid they stuck quite a few. Then I stuck 2 in rapid succession.

This video is a good one to have handy.

I have loaded a few thousand rounds of ammo, never stuck a case, but that is an easy way to get one out if I do. Thanks for sharing.

For my stuck cases I used Hornady case lube in the aerosol can.

I sprayed it on, did about 20, had to do something, the cases sat for around a day. Started back up, stuck a case (308).

More or less same experience repeated itself a few days later(243).

I switched back to the Lyman aerosol, problem disappeared.

My boys stuck 223 cases, we had around 2500 to size.

Before that, I had been loading for over 20 years and never stuck a case. In nearly every instance, the case lube is the source of the problem.

I stuck a .223 case a while back. I just made a dent puller type tool, did basically the same as the guy in the video did, drilled and tapped the case, then threaded the rod into the case, and popped the weight against the back end of the rod(that had a couple of nuts screwed onto the other end of it) to extract the case. 10-24 threads if I recall correctly.

I can't get the video to run here at work. I can only recall getting 1 case stuck. It was years ago when I was maybe 20 and had done some experimenting and somehow decided to try sizing a loaded 22-250 round. Yes, I said "Sizing a loaded 22-250 round". Of course I had to take the de-capping pin out. When I went to pull the case out of the die, the rim tore off. After going through gyrations that I won't go into here, for fear of somebody else trying it, I got the primer out and bullet also, so I could dump the powder. I drilled and tapped the case head and used a bolt with stack of washers that just happened to fit through a hole in the handle of a real big pipe wrench we had in the shop. I used the pipe wrench as a lever to pry the case out while holding the die in a vise.

I've never had a case stick when following proper reloading common sense! :) I've never used any lube but the standard old RCBS grease type lube.

With the Lyman or RCBS lube you can apply and the case can sit for days without fear of sticking.

The Lyman aerosol is also good for at least a day. The Hornady aerosol is not.

For the record I did not stick the case. I was loading some rounds for my neighbor and he wanted to help. "How can he screw up just running them threw the sizer?" Well I guess I figured it out lol. He put lube on the neck only. I watched him do a few then stepped in the other room to grab something and when I got back he had the look. Lol

Wouldn't it be nice if Imperial sizing wax had a spray for doing large runs of brass. That stuff's the bomb on single stage loading.

Yes, what I use for my 300's. Actually started using Imperial when I loaded for a friend's 300 Weatherby. He purchased all the components, right down to the Imperial lube.

I have always wanted to try the Imperial but just never seem to think of it when I'm buying reloading items. It would be nice to use something less sticky and greasy than the RCBS grease but the stuff does work....... :)

Yes. However, for my 300's I only do every other one, sometimes 1 in 3 or 4.

Smaller cases when I use the aerosols I let the overspray do that for me.

So, for me, I will deprime using a Universal decapper die, measure and trim if necessary, chamfer if necessary, tumble just to get the large chunks off, lube, FL size, tumble until you can use them for emergency flashers, prime, load.

I do the same as Daveb. Use a qtip about every 3rd round some times even more if I have just annealed some cases. It's pretty much a feeling with the expander ball, you can tell with resistance when to lube. A little goes a long way.

:D Sounds good friend! I'm just about to embark on loading for that 300WinMag, and also a 300WSM, so I appreciate the very helpful information!

No lube on case...
