So by complete random good fortune my friend's cousin offered to let us hunt his land. Went out tonight and saw quite a few, but couldn't get a shot due to where and how I sat and spooked one walking around before I left. Definitely deer there for sure but wanted opinions on if I was on the right track with this or not.

There were several well worn paths crossing this open mowed path in the pic where the pin is all the way down to the small field. It'd about 200 yards down that path. Would a stand or blind be good in that spot? Any advice y'all could give me on possible spots to sit would be greatly appreciated.

Hard to know for sure without seeing it in person but it l think I'd rather be in a stand at the southern end of the path. I think if you could set up where you could see the small field as well as the path you might have more luck. I can't know what food sources are there but deer might feel safer in the smaller opening surrounded by woods/cover, rather than chancing a daytime showing in the bigger fields where they're more exposed.

Personally I prefer to be in the woods, especially late in season when the deer may be reluctant to enter large open spaces in daylight, but I don't know what you've got there.

Wherever you end up you'll hopefully see enough deer to decide if and where you need to move. Don't forget to figure wind direction into your plans. Anyway, there are definitely a lot of hunters on here that are more likely to give you good advice than I am but that's my two cents, although its probably a rip-off at that price. Good luck!!

I would set at the point where the 2 trails come together. Or what looks like trails. Just above the smaller field...might be able to catch one going to bed or in the evenings going to that little secluded field...but im no expert lol just trial and error.

Stand or brush yourself in. Most will tell you it takes time for deer to adjust to a ground blind. I bet you get better results if you can post a topo map.

How wide is that mowed path and what's in it? If it's a single strip with a bushhog you may have problems getting a shot off if a buck runs a doe across. You could set up at the junction a move to wherever you were seeing deer movement. Without knowing the lay of the land and if you're going to hunt around the strip or field I'd look in the timber around that outside corner.

You saw quite a few... Where were they, where did they come from or run to when you spooked them? Chances are they'll be back in the same areas, I'd set up where I saw the deer and hold tight to the area they came from/ran to

I was up against a tree on top of a hill/ridge in the timber on the far right side near the field. Looked like they came from some thicker stuff just down the hill and ran back towards that mowed path. The last one I spooked was about to cross that mowed path as I was walking it.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. I think I'm going to go pick up a Climber and play with some different spots there for the rest if the season and then scout for more permanent stand locations later. I think it's definitely a good spot.

It's about 15-20 yards wide according to HuntStand. I was worried about seeing deer but not getting a shot.
