Squirrels plotting against me

There's a congregation climbing all over the trees all around me, all making chirping sounds like "fzzt" that they don't usually make, they are all grays but sound more like fox squirrels and are clearly up to something and I fear for my safety.

Joking aside, does anyone know what they are doing? Distinct but unknown behavior to me

I've recently noticed multiple squirrels in the same tree, chasing, guess their "rut" is on.

1 shot in a muzzleloader and a few arrows that I did not want to sling skyward. Squirrels would stay up in trees 95% of the time. Saw 1 deer during the sit, couldn't get a shot due to thick but he was in bow range.

Same here this morning!
About a dozen going crazy in the trees all around me. Chasing, fighting and being very vocal.
I had a string of does approaching and I watched them make a wide detour around the whole area. Too much drama, I guess.
