Nothing like hunting squirrels with a good .22 to train you on rifle work!Im excited will be my first hunting season getting a 1022 from a user here next week and gonna go to the gun club and practice a little bit!
Nice vest, but I wouldn't wear it for squirrel hunting…they seem like they can see bright colors to me…I hope squirrels see in black and white, I got a very nice upland vest for hunting and I assume they would notice movement regardless of the color. Figured I needed an orange vest with game pockets though for when deer season starts and I'm out hunting squirrels. Idk if i'll even get to get a deer this year with no high caliber rifle or anybody to hunt with to show me how its done. View attachment 238283
One way to find out, I'm going to be sneaky sneaky and sniping them outta the trees but will see come opening day how I manage and I'll be posting for sure! Main thing is I will be hunting squirrels in deer season and need to stay legal and alive.Nice vest, but I wouldn't wear it for squirrel hunting…they seem like they can see bright colors to me…
Yeah, found some cuttings under a shag bark hickory last week…they always started on Virginia pines on the Plateau when I was a kid up there years ago…They been Cutting on hickories for a couple of weeks around here as they always do. Pretty normal, at least for around here.
I don't use snake boots or gaiters…that's me…I'm not too concerned about snakes, I worry more about yellow jackets or hornets…when squirrel hunting I move slowly enough to watch where I put my feet or hands…and I carry a hiking stick which comes in handy for spider webs, briars, and rifle steady rest…my fav squirrel rifle, laying on my hiking stick…Picked me up a Marlin 795 from Tenntrapper today for squirrels and I'm going to scout some public land in a few places tomorrow morning for hickory/ beech and listen for them. Will I need gaiters is there a great fear of snakes in the woods or will jeans and boots be fine? I am pumped for season to start!
