Food Plots Spring plot

I've done fall plots for deer for several years. I was thinking trying my hand at planting clover for the spring and summer season. Plot is mostly winter wheat now. Do you guys disc it up and start over? And when is the best time?

I disk up half of mine and start fresh in april/early march. Turkeys love clover scratching in the clover.

I've always heard that spring perennial clover planting is a waste of time as it is hard to control weeds.

My best clover plots come from a heavy frosted morning or snow in Feb or March. I just top sow on top of the frost or snow. Works awesome.

How do you fertilize that muddy?

Frost seeding and spring sowing are 2 different things. Frost seeding works great if the plot has been already worked. Spring plowing/disking a new field then sowing will get you weeds.

0-20-20. Pounds/acre by soil test.
