FLIPPER sent me a Sony S40 unit someone else had built for him for me to do a "Tune Up" on the unit. It had no external power so I added him 2 C cells for the ext power. Needed a new seal so I installed one of Tony's Neoprene Rope seals. Rehacked the camera and added the ext power wires. All is good now. Put it out on my wife's Bluebird house for some test pics. Here they are. Not bad for a 2 second camera!!!!

Although I have never shared the pics with anyone other than BSK...my camera does a TERRIFIC job.

About 3-4 years ago, there was a 7 point buck in our foodplot that my daughter shot. This camera took a pic of the deer standing there before the shot and a pic after the shot before the deer was as rest on the ground.

The pics are on my other computer...so I guess you will have to take my word for it and that BSK can vouch for me being as he has seen them. ;)

I love the s40.... s600 gets all the accolades because of the flash,
but you cannot beat the s40 ...the s series is second to none in my opinion. I have seen to many crisp clear pics. from them.
I have some Nikon's that I was going to hack for trail cams,I am afraid i may be disappointed ,I like to use the s40 for a barometer.BUT if you ever have to change lens,...GOOD LUCK
The night pics. will be way out of focus, unless you get lucky and find a good marriage.
I have heard that they calibrate the lens assembly to the particular cam at the factory, when you change boards or lens it is a crap shoot. But it is one I am willing to take because of the versatility and ease of building a s40.(NOT COUNTING THE HACK).
You can pick them up on E-bay for little of nothing because they have a white screen,The fix is so easy it is ridiculous,I just bought one that the Lens ASSY was messed up,had a junker ,put the lens in it ...like new, well I have not took any night time pics. But so far it is like a brand new cam.It is amazing what a little alcohol will do for a camera,They just get dirty and the ribbons need cleaned...good as new.Unlike the other cams. a s40 comes in components that can be replaced,Front board Rear board Battery comp.Lens ASSy.the list goes on.
You tear something up get in the junk drawer and drag out a power bar with the flash and power buttons.
Did not mean to ramble so much but I love the s40,and Flipper you have a nice trail cam that will serve you well for years to come
Just for the heck of it ...Do you have the 4 wire Yeti Hack?
Supposed to make it a half second faster. But you have to use the YETI Board...HMMMMM.

It has a Snapshot Sniper LCD board. No 4 wire hack. It is not too slow without it either. It caught a Bluebird "IN FLIGHT"!!!!!
