Took my son out a few times this year including juvenile weekend but only saw one that he didn't get a shot at. We went yesterday morning and were running a little late when we got to the blind it was already starting to get a little light. We got unpacked and about 15 minutes later we saw a doe come through quick, just after she went through another one came through walking about 15 yards from the blind. I stopped her when she got in the shooting lane and he shot. She ran back the direction she came. I told him we would reload the muzzle loader and give her about an hour and maybe a buck would come through. We set there about 25 mins when I noticed movement on my right, I looked and saw alters. I told him it was a buck and to get ready. The buck walked down and checked a scrape just down from us then turned and walked into the shooting lane about 40 yards away. He shot and I saw him do the mule kick and took off stright. I could tell he was hit good and thought he was gonna go down before get got out of my sight but he made it out of sight. We waited about 20 more minutes and went and checked. We had hair and blood at both locations. We recovered the buck which was a 8 point that had been a 9 point but had broken off his G2 about 50 yards over the hill. The Dow made it about 150 yards with a double lung shot.
