The bad thing about that set up, it has to be removed to work the front takedown lever. And it required a BUNCH of fitting work. However, it seems like they also offered a longer rail for a scout scope at that time. But that's been probably 10 years ago. So, who knows?

My paratrooper model has a side rail. BUT, a scope would be in the way of using stripper clips for loading. So I just use the irons on it.

I've heard those won't hold zero for crap. I've never tried one myself though.
Well...in all fairness, a sks isn't exactly a precision rifle!!I've heard those won't hold zero for crap. I've never tried one myself though.
The biggest problem is that you can only use a very short compact scope. The SKS ejects it's empty cases straight up from the receiver. If your scope extends over that portion of the receiver it will beat your scope to death, seriously. At one time they made a replacement dust cover type scope mounting system that had four set screws, one at Each corner. It stayed pretty solid.I've heard those won't hold zero for crap. You may be paying him too much dad .... but I'll side with him ...give him a raise popGeez son! LOL how many toys do you have?
