Since I can't eat ground beef I'm made this with ground turkey. Its really good. You can get super creative with additives.
I swear once you do it you won't go back to oven again.

Wife started using ground turkey in meat loaf....sounds terrible....but its really good!
Now Ill have to try and smoke one.
Ain't bad in chili either. Cuts down on the grease and you don't really taste the difference with all the seasonings

Yep....grease is the reason she swapped....but its great in chilli and vegetable soup....agree

I have made Alston Browns smoked meatloaf before and it was great. Pretty much the recipe you used but substitute BBQ chips for bread crumbs.
I would have never thought of bbq chips at all I used Italian breadcrumbs
I use the ground turkey in chili as well, and I smoke it if I have time.
I think I could grind up an old shoe, toss in chili seasonings and still get it down.

I have smoked meatloaf before. The only thing I do different is I put the meatloaves on a sheet pan in the smoker to catch all the juices. I have noticed the meatloaf has a more smokey flavor the next day. Makes great sandwiches.
