I used to duck hunt but quit when I had to work all the time. Spent what few off days I had for deer hunting. Now I am retired and thinking about trying duck hunting again. I sold my 12 gauge earlier this year and have only a 20 gauge now. Would this work for duck hunting and early goose? Also what size shot should I use for the 20 gauge? Most of my hunting involved floating down the river in my jon boat and shooting ducks and geese that flew up at close range.

My son uses a 20 gauge and kills duck with it.I get him the number 2's or even the BB'S if your gun shoots them better. You may not be able to shoot as far with a 20 as a 12 but the 20 gets the job done just fine.
I won't use #2's anymore. BB's for me.

BB's is what I shoot when I take my 20gauge Gramps...although, I've only used it on ducks not geese

just out of curiosity, what caused the swap? I usually buy 1 shot if I can find it, but if not I usually go with 2s. I honestly haven't been able to tell much of a difference on ducks between BBs and 3s.
