Not talking archery here, just bullets. Which do you prefer, high shoulder or heart/lungs? I've always done the the heart shot and have never lost one but I also know a shoulder shot don't run. Let's hear it...

Depends on where I'm hunting. If on the edge of a swamp, really thick stuff, or high ridges I try the shoulder shot to anchor them on the spot. Sometimes under those same circumstances (and I don't recommend this shot for everyone), if I don't have the shoulder shot I'm not bashful about a spine shot. I've killed several bucks with that being the only shot that presented itself. Otherwise I like seeing them make that death rush and I like following a blood trail thus the heart/lung shot.

I'll never shoulder shoot one unless I know that's all that's available and then I'll shoot high shoulder . Good double lung for me . Lost a couple shoulder shot but not on purpose just a bad shot .

For many years the high shoulder shot was my preferred shot. The guy I hunted with always wondered why I "always" shot them there. I told him to try it one time and when he did he saw why. Every high shoulder shot deer I killed dropped in its tracks.
These days I prefer the heart-lung shot, it's a little larger target and a little more room for error. Plus there is less wasted meat.
Might sound weird but I kinda like the thrill of watching a deer make that death run and hear it crash out.

I'm like most of you and like to watch the drunk wobble and crash. But my preferred shot with a bigger caliber is quartering to me and hitting them just in front of the shoulder and the bullet exiting or being lodged just behind the opposite shoulder. Drops them fast

Big or small, kill em all

Heart/lungs here. I just instinctively started shooting them there because you don't ruin any meat. Never tried the shoulder that I can recall. I can see the reasoning for it though if it does drop them as fast as claimed.

I've done high shoulder, spine and just behind elbow....Every time, I was aiming just behind elbow and deer moved or I jerked, but still got a good hit. That target just gives me room for error and still have success... ;)
