Does anyone know of any gun manufactures selling a 6.5 creedmore with a 16" barrel other then kimber. I know that the shorter barrel will knock off some velocity and all that good stuff but I typically hunt with a 45-70 so I hunt in the thick but there's a few places for maybe 200 or a little over 200 yard shots. The ruger predator is the right price for me but they don't seem to make the 6.5 in 16" barrel

Barrett makes one in an 18 inch rifle

Thanks those rifles are sweet but waaaaay out of my price range. I was hoping to get one for under 500 but that might not be possible.
How much does it usually cost to get one cut down?

I know the 6.5 is the cool guy caliber these days, but there are a lot of calibers that will handle a 200-yard shot with ease. I shot 2 over 200 yards last year with my 16" barreled .308. No problem.

Good luck with whatever you decide. [emoji1360]

Barrel cutting and recrown info from another forum... but posted by a fellow TNDEER member.

That was for a bare barrel however. Not sure if he may charge a little more for a barreled action......(931)580-6334"

From that thread, the price was the same for someone else's barreled action.

I agree with infoman, but I'm also a fan of the 6.5cm. It's a little less recoil than .308, and im seeing 6.5 hunting ammo at my local walmart now too.

Thanks for the advice. I know there's plenty of calibers that can get that job done with ease. I like the 6.5 mostly just because a lot of people are very happy with it and the lighter recoil. Don't get me wrong I love being pushed around by my 45-70 while taking 60 yard shots but I'm kinda recoil sensitive when it comes to making longer shots. I have a 30-06 with a synthetic stock that is really uncomfortable for me to shoot.

Thank you for the info. I just might go this route. The ruger American isn't much more then 400. So with that and the cut I should be in it for under 500.
