This morning I bought a new scope for my Optima, so I had to sight it in this afternoon. Of course, it was windier than heck ahead of that storm that rolled through Nashville right at dark.
I couldn't get my rifle to group worth a darn. I expected the wind to make the windage off, but ironically most of the variation was in elevation. I would think that the wind wouldn't be strong enough to alter the flight of 300 grain bullets, but I guess it did. My patterns were about 1 to 2" wide and 2 - 3 inches vertical variation at 100 yards. The wind was mostly from behind me.
