I fired my first 10 rounds today, rifle shot well, I am still on the front end of the learning curve getting a load worked up for this rifle

50 grains Swiss 1.5
400 grain bullet
winchester mag primer

it tacked pretty well for my first shooting

The gentleman whom built my longrifle has a Shiloh in 40-65.
His chicken load is 53 grs. of 3f Goex with a RCBS 350 gr. bullet. Long range load is 54 grs. of 1.5 Swiss with a Saeco 410 gr. bullet. If I remember correctly primers are Winchester Large Rifle.

Reloading BP cartridges is very cool in my book. I think i read somewhere that the sharps bullet will climb to over 80yds over you line of sight on its way to the 1000yd target.

What do you do for brass prep? wash in soap and water and tumble? BP can be some nasty stuff.

I just scrub mine in the sink most of the time, then place them in a drying rack overnight...then in the tumbler.

I deprime in field, put emptys in container with Mr Clean and H2O, move to hot soapy H2O at home, then tumble

Never reloaded with Black or any of the subs but thinking about doing so with some of the Blackhorn for the heck of it.
