A friend of mine from Virginia is into fossil hunting. He finds shark teeth, whale bones, huge prehistoric shells the size of wheels, etc. Pretty cool stuff to me. I offered to buy some megalodon teeth from him because I always wanted one. He surprised me and sent me two along with some smaller teeth. I couldn't believe just how big these things actually are in person. Thought I would share my mailbox finds today.

Awesome! As a kid growing up in South Florida I found all kinds of fossils. I have many Megalodon teeth and countless sharks teeth. I also have a tooth from a mammoth and a couple vertebrae from something big(not sure what).

I would love to be able to go back in time and see a live Megalodon!
Yes! I can only imagine. I was in awe at the whale shark exhibit at the GA aquarium by the sheer size of those and the megalodon was bigger than the whale shark. I bet I spent an hour or longer sitting on the bench watching the whale sharks. Was the only exhibit I liked at that aquarium.

Had a buddy in Chattanooga that had gone on fossil dives in the Santee River. They'd go in the winter to eliminate the threat of gators, and do basically a blackwater dive, where the boat would drop them off, they'd get to the bottom as fast as possible, and then basically scrabble and grab everything they could, shoving stuff into a dive bag as the current dragged them along. At the end of the run they'd get on the boat and sort random rocks from Megalodon teeth and other fossils. Makes my heart race just to think about finding stuff like that!

Those vertebrae are probably from a S Fl skunk ape!

Great pics CT ! Thanks for posting

Dove with them in Belize, awesome experience to be so close to something that big

They are fish. In the picture there is a tail/body of a permit and the head/body of a tarpon.
NIce gold work there. I assume someone custom made that for you. Back in my dental school days we had to cast our own gold crowns so most of us in my class were fairly proficient in casting gold and would make rings and jewelry with leftover gold. I actually made my wife's wedding band myself that she still wears 30 years later.

Yep. The guy's initials are on the inside of the ring. Very cool about your wife's band and the crowns!

I still have a 20+ year old newspaper article out of a Greensboro newspaper about fossil hunting in phosphate mines over near the outer banks. It showed mammoth bones, sharks teeth etc. I always thought I'd like to go dig around in those phosphate mines!

Folks, several years ago, my wife and I visited Savannah GA. On the trip, we did a fossil hunting trip. On that trip, we found at least 100 fossilized shark teeth including a partial megaladon tooth. If anyone wants them, PM me. You just need to pay for shipping.

Many of these are tiny. I have them in a medium sized prescription bottle.

My favorite past time while on Vacation is to walk the beach looking for sharks teeth. I have found thousands. Mostly small teeth but have found some good ones but nothing like the ones in the OP. All mine have came from the Myrtal Beach area.
